The Streamload experience goes back a couple of years. They seemed to have a nice service, I loved the thumbnails attached to the picture files. I put a lot of files into a free acount, and found the internal search never worked properly. I couldn’t find files I had put in, it was like throwing them into a black hole.
Then one day, streamload annouced Mediamax. They had not solved the technical problems with streamload, which could have been a really nice service, if done well. Now, they had shifted all my files over from the FREE streamload account to the FREE Mediamax account, and in the process corrupted huge amounts of them. I had sets of documents that belong together, filed in subfiles. In every case, 1 or more documents in the set of documents in each subfile had become corrupted, what Mediamax blithely called “a hiccup”. Well, their hiccup swallowed and therefore destroyed months of my research work, all of which has to be done over.
In the interim, I began saving print-screens of my mediamax contents, circling in red all the destroyed links and missing files. However, I had nowhere to TRANSFER my files which were stuck in Mediamax, so from time to time, I have logged in and used it to retrieve things, if they could be retrieved.
I just tried to login to get some irreplaceable photos which exist nowhere else, to find mediamax is GONE! And the front of the Linkup web site which replaced it declares that this time, only files in PAID accounts have been transferred.
There should be massive warnings against these people, all over the internet. They set up corrupted hosting systems that lose or damage files en masse, they refuse to recover the files, or to answer for why the files were lost in the first place. Clearly, they have contempt for their members, whether free or paid. At one point, I DID PAY, but it would take weeks sitting there to download everything to get it out of Mediamax; they offered no means of mass-download, no ftp for example.
So, they’re gone again!
This reminds me of bogus telemarketing rooms, who open under one name, hit the sucker market, close down, open up under another name, hit the same sucker market, close down, open again…
I would be very careful of dealing with these people under any name. They and their lousy systems will inflict massive damage on your life.

And now these crooks have shut down their site. I would join a class action lawsuit if anyone against this CEO if anyone would join me.

I would definitely join in a class action. I’ve been with streamload/mediamax for years, and was paying in excess of $10 a month. What a waste. Something has to be done. I’ve lost way too much stuff.

i want to know who is handling a lawsuit? we just discovered today that our irreplacable files are GONE. we’d join-no question. i think we paid 39.95 per month. not only do we deserve a refund but also damages. who the hell do these people think they are? what cowards. they dont answer emails and dont even publish a contact number.

It sounds like there’s some solid basis too… especially if it turns out that Nirvanix, Inc. is the same legal entity we signed up with (Streamload, Inc. renamed). Does anyone know how to get the company status so we can confirm this? Then I guess it’s just a case of finding a good lawyer….
